Former Westborough Water District Director Robert Craig Passes Away by Darryl Barrow Nov 26, 2019 Member Submitted News We recently were notified of the passing of former Director Robert C. Craig. Director Craig was on the Board of Directors for the Westborough Water District from 1982 to 2012, during which time he served as President of the Board six times. Director Craig served on the Personnel, Capital Improvement, and Budget Committees. Director Craig was instrumental in the success of the water district and also served as representative for the district for the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency. General Manager Darryl Barrow stated that Director Craig made great efforts to improve the Westborough Water District through hard work, improving technology and education. In 2011, Director Craig was honored by the City of South San Francisco City Council with a proclamation for his nearly 30 years of service to the community. Director Craig lived in South San Francisco for over 50 years. He was a veteran of both the US Navy and US Army, and earned a PhD from USC. His teaching career began at the US Federal Prison in Lompoc, CA where he taught Math, Drafting, and Trade Theory. Later he spent over 30 years as a Professor at San Francisco State University. He was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he taught boating safety classes and performed vessel safety inspections in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was an avid fisherman, scuba diver, and master wood craftsman. Director Craig moved out of the District (South San Francisco) in August 2015. The District was sadden to just recently learn of his passing. He is survived by his wife of 64+ years, Suzanne Craig, two of his children, and five grandchildren. Director Robert C.
