NID Awards Two Scholarships to High School Students by Nevada Irrigation District Jun 3, 2019 Member Submitted News The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) recently awarded its first scholarships to two Nevada Union High School students during the Nevada Joint Union High School District’s Awards Night. Congratulations to John Low and Tyler Velasquez, who were awarded scholarships valued at up to $15,000 each for six-month paid internships at the District. This is the first year of NID’s pilot program to support and promote area students through scholarships, which offer graduating high school student hands-on work experience and an introduction to potential careers in the water and hydroelectric industries. As part of the application process, high school candidates attended a presentation by NID managers, toured District facilities to gain insight into the different career opportunities within various NID departments, and went through a panel interview by NID staff members. NID is pleased to have participated in this important joint effort with the Nevada Joint Union High School District.
