Save Our Water Releases New Toolkit by ACWA Staff Sep 29, 2021 Water News The statewide Save Our Water campaign, in partnership with ACWA, has created a number of customizable communications tools for water agencies to help their customers reduce water usage inside and outside the home. As drought conditions become more severe across the state, the Newsom Administration continues to monitor whether Californians are voluntarily reducing water use by 15% compared to 2020 levels following the July 8 Executive Order. ACWA member agencies are encouraged to utilize Save Our Water’s new toolkit items to help customers reduce water use and meet the 15% goal at a minimum, understanding that many water agencies have higher conservation goals, mandates and water use restrictions in place. The toolkit includes a sample press release, newsletter, talking points, radio scripts, a new logo in English and Spanish and social media posts, graphics and banners. The toolkit is available to ACWA members online. In addition to the toolkit created for ACWA members, Save Our Water posted a toolkit on its website that is available to the public to encourage Californians’ to spread the word about the importance of conserving water during a drought. Additional toolkit items are also currently being developed for ACWA members. The Save Our Water program was created in 2009 by ACWA and the California Department of Water Resources to help Californians be as efficient as possible when it comes to water use. The program’s goal is to encourage Californians to make lasting decreases in their daily water use by using water more wisely and preparing for more frequent and persistent periods of limited water supply.
