State Releases Final Water Resilience Portfolio by ACWA Staff Jul 28, 2020 Water News SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom today released the final version of his Administration’s Water Resilience Portfolio, intended as a roadmap for meeting California’s water needs through the 21st Century. The 141-page document is currently being reviewed by ACWA staff. Work on the document began after Newsom issued an Executive Order in April 2019 that directed the California Natural Resources Agency, California Environmental Protection Agency and California Department of Food and Agriculture to draft a plan to ensure the state’s long-term water resilience. ACWA has been actively engaged with the Newsom Administration from the beginning to provide meaningful input into the process, as well as offer content for the Portfolio. A 28-member ACWA Water Resilience Portfolio Working Group comprised of subject matter experts and water industry leaders from within all 10 ACWA Regions helped guide the work of ACWA staff in developing proactive recommendations for the Portfolio. That effort resulted in a 34-page set of recommendations submitted to the Administration in September 2019. The Administration released a draft Portfolio in January 2020, and ACWA submitted comments to that document. Staff is now reviewing the final document in comparison to those comments. More information about the Portfolio is available at www.acwa.com/portfolio.
