The Water Education Foundation is asking supporters in the water industry to consider making a tax-deductible contribution through a workplace giving campaign, in which donors can make their gift via a one-time payroll deduction or as a set amount per pay period through their employer.

The Foundation, an impartial nonprofit organization, relies on supporter contributions to support its mission to inspire understanding of water and catalyze critical conversations to build bridges and inform collaborative decision-making.

Financial support helps the Foundation continue educational programs such as its Water Tours, Water 101 Workshops, Water Leaders program and California Project WET (Water Education Today) teacher training.

Whether you work for a federal or state agency or a private sector organization, those interested can make a commitment by the following deadlines:

  • By Nov. 13 for the Our Promise Campaign for California state employees, including those who work for the California Department of Water Resources, State Water Resources Control Board and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
  • By Nov. 13 for the United Way for all other local campaigns and private-sector companies.
  • By Dec. 15 for the Combined Federal Campaign for federal agencies such as the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Geological Survey.

Supporters whose employer does not participate in one of these three campaigns can check with their human resources department to see if they have their own campaign. If so, they can write in “Water Education Foundation” to direct their contribution to the Foundation. Its tax ID is 94-2419885.
