ACWA invites you to join ACWA Associate Mainspring Energy for a webinar on October 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM (PT).

California wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) are facing growing challenges to manage rising electricity costs, comply with stringent emissions regulations, and update aging infrastructure. This webinar will explore several funding opportunities available to WWTPs in California to help alleviate these challenges while improving energy efficiency and resilience. We will showcase Napa Sanitation District (NapaSan), a large municipal wastewater district in California, and share how they successfully navigated and benefitted from these funding opportunities.

The webinar will include an overview of federal investment tax credits and will explore California-specific funding and cost-saving opportunities, including:

  • Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP)
  • California Energy Commission (CEC) grants
  • Sales and use tax exemptions

These programs offer financial support for wastewater treatment plants to reduce emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and lower operational costs.

Like many wastewater districts, NapaSan faced challenges such as aging equipment, rising electricity costs, and plans to expand biogas production.

To access incentive funding for this project, Mainspring Energy and its financing partner, NextEra Energy Resources, helped NapaSan successfully navigate California’s Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), qualifying them for both the base incentive and resiliency adder. The project required no upfront capital from NapaSan, enabling them to monetize their biogas, reduce NOx emissions, and realize significant energy cost savings from day one.

This webinar is essential if you are responsible for driving cost savings, reduced emissions, and operational efficiencies with energy resilience for wastewater treatment plants in California.
