This marks the ninth MISAC award for Western since 2007. “We are extremely proud of our elite IT team. They continue to find innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and network security for all of Western’s staff and customers,” said Craig Miller, Western’s General Manager. MISAC’s Excellence in IT Practices Award recognizes outstanding governance and operational practices and it is the highest level awarded by MISAC. Award applicants are subject to a detailed and comprehensive audit, and winners must meet or exceed recognized best practices across 12 critical IT service areas and over 100 unique audit criteria. Information and communication technologies play a vital role in water supply planning and operations optimization. Adopting forward-thinking technologies equips Western with the necessary information and the opportunity to more effectively plan for the water and wastewater needs of today, and for future generations. “With the ongoing pandemic and the need to quickly adapt business needs to a virtual environment, our IT team stepped it up for our customers,” added Miller. “In collaboration with the various Western departments, this team kept our staff connected while maximizing efficiency and productivity during this pandemic.” MISAC was founded in 1980 and strives to promote leadership, education, and access to resources for local agency technology professionals in order to enhance local government services and effectiveness using its Four Pillars: education, member resources, relationships, and advocacy.
