ACWA Code of Conduct

ACWA is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country. Our more than 470 public agency members collectively are responsible for 90% of the water delivered to cities, farms, and businesses in California. For more than a century, our mission has been clear: To provide comprehensive leadership, advocacy, and resources for California public water agencies to ensure a high quality and reliable water supply in an environmentally sustainable and fiscally responsible manner.

ACWA is proud to be the organization that people turn to for the latest and best information about water policy in California. Whether you are a policymaker, journalist, local leader or concerned citizen, ACWA offers accurate, relevant analyses of the issues surrounding the reliable delivery of safe water to millions of Californians. To fulfill this mission, however, it is imperative that all attendees at ACWA’s events comport themselves in a respectful and courteous manner toward other attendees, ACWA staff, and other event participants. Accordingly, all attendees at ACWA’s conference must adhere to the following standards of behavior.

To ensure ACWA’s events are informative and enjoyable for those attending or staffing the event, ACWA will not tolerate disrespectful or abusive behavior by an attendee toward a fellow attendee, ACWA staff member, or other event participant Abusive conduct may include, but is not limited to, verbal abuse, such as the use of derogatory remarks, insults, and epithets or verbal or physical conduct that a reasonable person would find threatening, intimidating, or humiliating.

In addition, ACWA is committed to providing equal access and opportunities to all at its events. Accordingly, ACWA will not tolerate any behavior by any attendees toward fellow attendees, ACWA staff, or other event participants that involves discrimination or harassment on account of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, sexual orientation, or veteran or military status.

By attending an ACWA event, attendees agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and understand that they may be removed as an attendee if they violate any of these rules. Concerns regarding potential violations of this Code should be directed to ACWA Executive Director Marwan Khalifa.
