ACWA invites you to join our associate member SL Environmental Law Group, P.C. for a complimentary webinar for ACWA members and non-members on Thursday, October 15th at 11 AM PST entitled “Time is Running Out: Using the Legal Process to Cover the Cost of TCP Contamination before Dec 31st, 2020”.

TCP is a harmful carcinogen often found in water supplies next to large agriculture sites in the Central Valley. California water systems impacted by TCP may each face millions of dollars in response costs. Many water systems impacted by TCP have been successful using litigation to force Dow Chemical and Shell Chemical, the corporations who profited from manufacturing and distributing the products that contained TCP and caused the water contamination, to pay for the costs of cleaning up TCP contamination in their communities.

However, the statute of limitations — the deadline to file a legal claim for TCP contamination — will run out as soon as December 31, 2020. Water suppliers impacted by TCP who have not yet filed claims may soon lose their right to do so.

SL Environmental Law Group has successfully represented dozens of California water providers in suits against Dow and Shell over TCP contamination and, thus far, have not lost a single case. To date, Dow and Shell have paid SL’s clients in excess of $250 million for TCP response costs. The firm works for their clients entirely on a contingency basis — at no cost to the client — other than a percentage of what they may obtain for the client in litigation.

During tomorrow’s free webinar, Ken Sansone from SL Environmental will discuss how to shift the costs of meeting the TCP MCL from ratepayers to polluters, as well as the impact of the impending statute of limitations.

Who Should Attend:

Water Utility Executives, Managers, and Operators who are responsible for delivering affordable drinking water safely and reliably.
