Cal OES Announces Funding Opportunity by ACWA Staff Aug 24, 2022 Water News The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has announced a funding opportunity under the Prepare California Initiative. Cal OES will provide funding to cover the non-federal cost share for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities, or BRIC, and Flood Mitigation Assistance project scoping activities, as well as competitive mitigation projects for eligible high hazard risk and socially vulnerable communities. FEMA launched BRIC two years ago as a pre-disaster mitigation program. Since then, FEMA has identified $275 million worth of competitive projects for further consideration from applicants in California. This is the most funding identified for any state. For the upcoming BRIC cycle, which will kick off this week, the $2.3 billion being made available is the most funding ever for pre-disaster mitigation.
