MMWD Replacing Over a Mile of 111-year-old Pipeline by Marin Municipal Water District Mar 21, 2019 Member Submitted News Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) will install new pipelines in various streets including Rosemont Avenue, Greenhill Road and Almonte Boulevard in the unincorporated communities of Almonte and Homestead. The new water pipelines will replace leak-prone cast iron pipe installed as early as 1908 and will be better able to withstand an earthquake, as well as improves fire flow capacity. This project is being coordinated with the County of Marin’s street overlay program. The County is scheduled to pave these streets following completion of the District’s pipe replacement project. Work will take place from April to October 2019. MMWD and the contractor, Michael Paul Company, will take all measures possible to minimize inconveniences associated with this project, including noise and traffic delays. MMWD is Marin County’s largest provider of drinking water, serving a population of 189,900 in a 147-square-mile area of south and central Marin County.
