The Alameda County Water District located in Fremont, CA, is seeking to hire an exceptionally talented engineer or hydrogeologist to apply and further develop their technical knowledge and broaden their project management and leadership skills. Under the supervision of the Groundwater Resources Manager, this position will perform a variety of complex engineering, hydrogeological, and administrative tasks related to the management and protection of groundwater resources. An area of responsibility will include oversight of the investigation and cleanup at leaking underground fuel tank and other spill or leak sites in conformance with local, regional, and state guidelines, and coordinating investigation and cleanup oversight activities with federal, state, and local agencies. Additionally, the incumbent will assist or lead well construction and rehabilitation projects which includes overseeing the work of consultants or water well drillers; reviewing proposals and reports for conformity with guidelines, industry standards and specifications; interpreting hydrogeologic data; administering contracts; monitoring costs; preparing change orders; and reviewing progress payments to contractors. The position also involves assisting with groundwater management programs which may include activities related to the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA); participating in groundwater basin studies; analyzing field data; overseeing data entry and the preparation of tables and diagrams; and producing technical reports with findings and recommendations. Good computer skills are required for a variety of technical analysis tasks. An advanced degree in an accredited engineering, geology, or hydrogeology curriculum may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. Associate Engineer/Associate Hydrogeologist: Possession of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering curriculum, geology, hydrogeology, or a related field; and Two (2) years of full-time experience in engineering, hydrogeology, or groundwater investigation and cleanup and/or groundwater basin management activities equivalent to that of an Engineer II or Hydrogeologist II within the district; and Possess a California State Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist.
