The new Region and Member Engagement Specialist will join a team of professionals who work in a collaborative environment with respected water leaders across the state to develop and advance critical water management policy priorities on behalf of California’s agricultural and urban water agencies and water users. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive individual to gain a wealth of knowledge regarding the California water industry by providing critical support and being an integral part of ACWA’s Member Outreach and Engagement team. Located just steps away from the State Capitol and agencies, ACWA is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country, a leader on California water issues, and a respected voice for its members in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. About the Position The Region and Member Engagement Specialist I serves as administrative support to ACWA’s Regions assisting with member retention and recruitment programs and activities, as well as ACWA’s customer service programs within the regions. Duties include assisting in the development and coordination of region events, tours and meetings; coordinating and tracking meeting materials and registration activities for region events, tours and meetings; assisting with coordination of region governance activities; and providing administrative support for ACWA’s involvement in outside organizations. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will possess a knowledge of meeting and event planning and an ability to compile information and maintain complex and extensive records, to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, and to develop positive working relationships with co-workers and ACWA members. Candidates should possess an Associate’s degree with major course work in public relations, government or a related field and two years of experience with an association or non-profit, public relations firm or legislator or as a meeting planner. Some travel throughout the state is required. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $29.47 – $38.31. Salary placement is based on qualifications.
