Dec. 31 Deadline for Small Community Water Systems to Submit ERP to EPA by ACWA Staff Oct 27, 2021 Water News America’s Water Infrastructure Act Section 2013 requires community water systems serving more than 3,300 people to develop or update a Risk and Resilience Assessment (RRA) and Emergency Response Plan (ERP). The law specifies the components that the RRAs and ERPs must address, and establishes deadlines by which water systems must certify to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) completion of the risk assessment and ERP. The EPA deadline for small community water systems (those serving between 3,301 and 49,999 people) to certify completion of an RRA was earlier this year. The EPA deadline for these systems to certify completion of an ERP is Dec. 31. To learn more, and for instructions on how to certify a RRA and ERP, visit EPA’s AWIA webpage.
