District celebrates a century of providing safe, clean drinking water by San Gabriel County Water District Jan 3, 2022 Member Submitted News ROSEMEAD – In honor of its 100th anniversary, San Gabriel County Water District launched an updated, mobile-friendly website and special logo that honor its longtime service and reliable supply of water to the community. Details of the District’s history and mission, latest projects, operations and customer services can be found on the redesigned website, SGCWD.com. The District also unveiled an anniversary logo and tagline, “A Century of Excellence in Water Delivery.” “Celebrating our growth and accomplishments over the last century is important to our team and Board of Directors,” General Manager Jim Prior said. “We take pride in what we do, providing our customers with high-quality water each and every day.” When the District organized on November 12, 1921, it served customers in the City of San Gabriel and unincorporated areas. SGCWD has since grown in territory, customers and employees. Today, the agency serves nearly 50,000 people in a 4-square-mile area of the valley that includes parts of San Gabriel, Alhambra, Rosemead, Temple City and nearby unincorporated areas. The first Board held its initial meeting on February 20, 1922, at the District’s office, then located at 538 W. Mission Dr. in San Gabriel. The office is now located in Rosemead. The current Board includes President Larry Taylor, Vice President Charles DeLaTorre and Directors Mary Cammarano, Eric Chan and Domingo Sauceda. “Our founding leaders understood that providing a reliable drinking water source was key, not only for people, but for the success of the area’s continued growth and prosperity,” Taylor said. “Today, we follow these same principles as guide the district to meet the needs of our customers now and for future generations.
