ACWA Members Testify Before U.S. House of Representatives by Jay Tanner Jun 13, 2019 Water News On Thursday, the U.S. House Natural Resources Water, Oceans, and Wildlife Subcommittee met to discuss legislation moving through the 116th Congress and representatives from three ACWA member agencies testified at the hearing as part of a panel of water professionals. John Allen, Board President of the Water Replenishment District of Southern California, spoke in support of H.R. 1162 (Napolitano, D – CA). The bill increases the authorization of the Bureau of Reclamation’s Title XVI Water Reclamation and Reuse Program from $50 million to $500 million. Additionally, Anthea Hansen, General Manager of Del Puerto Water District, testified in support of H.R. 2473 (Harder, D – CA) which seeks to invest in water infrastructure in the Central Valley and California at large. Finally, Brett Barbre, a Director of the Municipal Water District of Orange County, spoke generally about the status of water in California.
