Award Winners on Display at ACWA’s 2018 Fall Conference in San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Today, the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) handed out awards in several categories to water agencies and individuals at its 2018 Fall Conference & Exhibition in San Diego.

The ACWA awards program helps shine a spotlight on the outstanding agencies, member volunteers, lawmakers and water leaders whose exceptional service helps advance important water-related policies and programs throughout California.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Lifetime Achivement Award recognizes individuals who, throughout the course of their career, have made remarkable and lasting contributions to the California water community.

The Fall 2018 recipient of the ACWA Lifetime Achievement Award is Richard L. Schafer.

EMISSARY AWARD

The Emissary Award honors individual ACWA member volunteers who have made remarkable and visible contributions to the enhancement, protection or development of water resources in California by participating in, supporting and advancing ACWA’s mission and goals.

The 2018 recipient of the ACWA Emissary Award is John Woodling.

HUELL HOWSER BEST IN BLUE AWARD

ACWA’s Huell Howser Best in Blue Award honors outstanding public water agency efforts in communicating important information to customers, legislators, media, the public and others. The award focuses on innovation and transparency, and takes budget into consideration.

The 2018 recipient of the Huell Howser Best in Blue Award is Orange County Water District.

OUTREACH AWARDS

Throughout the year, ACWA asks its members to take action on important legislative and regulatory issues, helping create a coalition to directly affect the outcomes of numerous decisions and advance the association’s legislative and regulatory agenda. ACWA’s Outreach Awards recognize the most active member agency in each region, as well as an overall winner and winners in three special outreach categories.

The 2018 regional Outreach Award winners are:

Region 1: Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District
Region 2: Bella Vista Water District
Region 3: El Dorado Irrigation District
Region 4: Del Paso Manor Water District
Region 5: Scotts Valley Water District
Region 6: Malaga County Water District
Region 7: Indian Wells Valley Water District
Region 8: Three Valleys Municipal Water District
Region 9: Cucamonga Valley Water District
Region 10: Rincon Del Diablo Municipal Water District

The 2018 overall outreach award winner is Cucamonga Valley Water District.
