District Earns Two Awards for Project of the Year by Marina Coast Water District Mar 14, 2024 Member Submitted News MARINA — Marina Coast Water District is proud to announce that it received two Projects of the Year awards, one for emergency disaster preparedness and the other for an environmental project. Both are from the American Public Works Association (APWA), Monterey Chapter. The first is for the Ord Village Lift (pump) Station, and the second is for Recycled Water Pipelines. The project involved taking the existing Fort Ord Village sewer lift (pump) station located on the west side of Highway 1, within the Fort Ord Dunes State Park (FODSP), and moving it to the east side of Highway 1 away from the Dunes and closer to most of the customers. These recycled water pipelines expand the geographic reach of the Regional Urban Water Augmentation Project to serve irrigation customers along 5 miles of newly completed recycled water distribution mains in the Cities of Marina, Seaside, and unincorporated Monterey County. This is the culmination of many years of work, partnering with Monterey One Water to build the recycled water treatment plant, modifying ordinances, developing rates, negotiating with permitting agencies, training on safety protocols, building infrastructure, and more.
