Oct. 11 Registration Deadline for 2019 Regulatory Summit by Will Holbert Sep 4, 2019 Water News ACWA’s ninth annual Regulatory Summit on Oct. 17 in Sacramento will become the place and time to get fully up to speed on PFAS – one of the latest issues impacting many California water districts. Oct. 11 is the last day to register. Themed “Riding the Regulatory Wave in California,” the summit will focus exclusively on per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), the subject of recent changes in state regulations and new legislation. Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed into law legislation that essentially gives the State Water Resources Control Board the authority to order water districts to monitor for PFAS, the collective term for Perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS). The State Water Board has also issued new Notification Levels for PFOA and PFOS. The one-day summit will explore the science and history behind PFAS, as well as treatment methodologies, regulatory implications and expert perspectives on upcoming developments. Attendance at this year’s Regulatory Summit includes a continental breakfast, networking lunch, and all materials and presentations from the morning and afternoon sessions.
