Paul Kelley Leaving CalDesal by Will Holbert Aug 14, 2019 Water News ACWA Past President Paul Kelley has announced he is leaving as CalDesal Executive Director, effective Sept. 30 or until a replacement is named. Kelley has led CalDesal for the past three years. The non-profit organization assists public and private entities in pursuing desalination projects as well as providing statewide advocacy for desalination and salt management in California. He has enhanced CalDesal’s profile and helped advance desalination and salinity management in California. At ACWA, Kelley served as ACWA President from 2010-’11 and actively participated in many ACWA activities while he was a director of the Sonoma County Water Agency. He also served as ACWA Vice President from 2008-’09 and chair of ACWA Region 1. Kelley also served as vice-chair of the State Water Commission for a year and has had his own consulting business for the past nine years. During 2017, he led ACWA as Acting Executive Director for two months while then-Executive Director Timothy Quinn was on medical leave. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to have served CalDesal as its Executive Director, and have enjoyed working with the past and current officers of the organization, as well as the many wonderful agencies, companies, and people in the industry,” Kelley stated in a news release.
