San Juan Water District Announces 2020 Calendar Contest Student Winners by Lisa Brown May 29, 2019 Member Submitted News GRANITE BAY – Three Ridgeview Elementary School students will have their works of art depicting “How I Make Saving Water a Way of Life” in the 2020 San Juan Water District calendar. Free copies of the calendar will be available in November at the San Juan Water District Office. Additionally, all three winners received various cash prizes and a round of mini gold and laser tag at Golfland Sunsplash, a Round Table Pizza and NuYo Frozen Yogurt. The winners, whose posters were chosen from 313 entries, were announced at the May 23 San Juan Water District board meeting. All 313 students who entered received a t-shirt for participating. As a thank you for teaching water awareness, San Juan Water District also presented the teachers of the winning students with $100 for their classrooms. Third Place: Madison Foon, a 5th grader in Mrs. Lin’s class. Second Place: Lauren Hempstead, a 5th grader in Mrs. Parcher’s class. First Place: Jaena Vergara, a 5th grader in Mrs. Renfand’s class. About 900 students total participated in companion poster contests hosted by San Juan’s four water agency partners: Citrus Heights and Fair Oaks water districts, Orange Vale Water Company and the City of Folsom (for customers north of the American River). San Juan Water District provides reliable, high-quality water service to approximately 265,000 retail and wholesale customers in eastern Sacramento and southern Placer Counties.
