Save Our Water Toolkit Items Available by ACWA Staff Jun 8, 2022 Water News The statewide Save Our Water campaign has created a number of customizable communications tools for water agencies to help their customers reduce water usage during the summer months. The new toolkit items include social media posts and graphics that emphasize the importance of saving water outdoors by sharing tips and information on mulch, drip irrigation, leaks and the importance of trees. The new toolkit items are available online at www.saveourwater.com. The advertising portion of the campaign is also fully up and running with radio ads, billboards, paid social media and a presence at several county fairs and other large events. Gov. Gavin Newsom on March 28 issued an Executive Order to bolster regional conservation efforts. The order calls on Californians to strive to limit their summertime water use and to use water more efficiently inside and out of the home. ACWA member agencies are encouraged to utilize Save Our Water’s new toolkit items to help customers reduce water use and, at a minimum, meet the 15% goal. Save Our Water, in partnership with ACWA, has also released toolkits specifically for ACWA members that include sample bill inserts, print ads, carwash signs, radio scripts and more. These toolkits are available to ACWA members at acwa.com/resources/member-tools. The Save Our Water program was created in 2009 by ACWA and the California Department of Water Resources to help Californians be as efficient as possible when it comes to water use. The program’s goal is to encourage Californians to make lasting decreases in their daily water use by using water more wisely and preparing for more frequent and persistent periods of limited water supply.
