State Water Board Adopts General Order for Restoration Projects by ACWA Staff Aug 17, 2022 Water News SACRAMENTO – The State Water Resources Control Board on Aug. 16 adopted the Clean Water Act Section 401 and Waste Discharge Requirements General Order for Restoration Projects Statewide, which is critically needed to streamline permitting for, and accelerate implementation of, habitat restoration projects throughout the state. ACWA has been supportive of this action, providing a comment letter and verbal commentary on the proposed General Order. ACWA anticipates that the action will help reduce delays in implementation of restoration projects for the benefit of California’s watersheds, and may be used to approve restoration projects that, by design: retrofit historical water facilities or modifications, or intentionally convert low-quality habitat types to higher quality habitat types to improve and increase ecological functions and services. More information on the General Order can be found on the State Water Board’s website.
