Upper District’s Board Activates Level 2 of its WSCP by Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District Sep 9, 2021 Member Submitted News The Board of Directors unanimously approved a resolution activating Level 2 of its Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP). This level activates a “call to action” to residents of the San Gabriel Valley to voluntarily reduce their water usage by 15% to align with Governor Newsom’s emergency drought declaration. “The Board recognizes the severity of the drought and remains committed to supporting water supply investments for drought resiliency and ensure our residents have the resources to conserve water in their homes,” stated Board President Ed Chavez. This proactive drought response seeks to promote overall water conservation, potentially avoiding additional stringent cutbacks in the future and improving regional water reliability. In addition to the recent local water supply presentations to city councils, Upper District will increase its messaging campaign to promote water conservation best practices and rebates. The resolution also urges all local water suppliers and city councils to help residents implement voluntary conservation measures. Additionally, a dedicated drought webpage has been added to the website. Upper District recently launched a new residential direct install program targeted to its service area’s disadvantaged communities. The Water Smart Home Program provides residents with a menu of water-saving devices for home installation, free of charge.
